This is one of Neal’s funny poems:

It’s Got to Be a Pea

What is that tiny little ball that’s knocking at your door?
Grass-green and round it makes no sound when rolling ‘cross the floor
Born in a pod and served with cod it doesn’t grow on trees
It’s got to be
It has to be
It’s certainly a pea

It might come from a freezer bag or fresh or from a can
It might be liquidised in soup though would taste weird in jam
What’s fun to flick at dinnertime at friends or family?
It’s got to be
It has to be
It’s definitely a pea

It could be minted, split, black-eyed or even marrow fat
Or squished and squashed beneath your shoe, steamrollered, fairly flat
Don’t stick one up your nostril it will make you sniff and sneeze
It’s got to be
It has to be
(The 16th letter of your ABC)
It’s unquestionably a pea

    1. Hello, aurawithwriting! Thank you! I have had great fun receiving all the fabulous poems and interesting bios. I have never given up on an A-Z yet, I’m too stubborn. I shall come and visit you now! Oh, hang on will do so again as I’ve already been today!

  1. Hi Liz, loving the different take on the challenge and the logic that when completed it reads the correct way! I love reading poetry too (and writing it, although i don’t do as much as should) so i’m looking forward to be introduced to some new (to me) authors.

    1. Hello, Anita! Thank you, it just seemed to me it would be frustrating not to be able to search A-Z as that’s the way my brain goes! There are loads of brilliant poems to come!

  2. Ah the friendly pea who just happened to go up my hubby’s nose when he was a kid and when he sneezed it flew in the air and landed on his brother’s plate. Fun poem

    1. Did it really, Birgit? I bet they laughed! I put a bead up my nose when I was two. My mum phoned the Dr who arrived minutes later, to her surprise; he thought she’d said I’d put a BEE up my nose!
