Paul Cornelius, Fire Fighter, Reads Battling Fire by Mary E Cronin

As it’s so HOT, and there have been lots of fires breaking out, here is a poem read by fire-fighter Paul Cornelius by Mary E Cronin, filmed as part of National Poetry Day 2015’s theme, Light. 15 people whose jobs or ways of life were associated with light read poems that incorporated light.

Filmed at Chew Magna Fire Station by kind permission of Avon Fire and Rescue.

    1. Bonnie, can I email you on the email that has been sent to me with this post? (no-one else can see it). It’s quite a hard thing to do. I’m not sure you can if you are under a certain age.

    1. Ok… well, you can email me at, poetliz @ (without the spaces), if you have your own email, and I’ll have a chat. You can also ask for sponsorship on the Facebook page, Chew Magna Village, and that would reach some people. If you set up a JustGiving page, which is a page where people can go to give money for a charity or an event or special project, then you can advertise that page on posters, in the Gazette, and on the Facebook page for Chew Magna and surrounding villages. Not everyone looks at blogs, it’s not a good way t raise money. I can show you or your dad how to set up a JustGiving page if need be.
